About Rebecca
Soni's list of accomplishments is a lengthy one, and she recently added to it by taking gold in both the 100m and 200m breaststroke at the 2011 FINA World Swimming Championships in July, sending a message that she’s a leading medal contender in the pool next summer in London.
Athletic Achievements
- Three-time Olympic medalist (one gold in women's 200-meter breaststroke, two silvers in the women's 100-meter breaststroke and women's 4x100-meter medley relay) at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games
- Currently holds the world records in the women's 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke
- Named Swimming World magazine's Swimmer of the Year in 2010
- World Swimmer of the Year, American Swimmer of the Year and World Champion in the women's 100-meter breaststroke and women's 50-meter breaststroke (2009-2010)
- 11-time All-American at the University of Southern California (2006-2009) and 4-time NCAA Champion
Soni's Approach to Nutrition
- Soni eats a good breakfast every morning before practice tolast through her long, hard workout.
- Throughout the day, she sticks to a healthy diet making sure to incorporate lots of fruits and vegetables into meals.
- Soni loves to cook and enjoys preparing meals as one of her hobbies outside of the pool.
- A few of her favorite Kellogg's® products include Smart Start®, Kellogg's Raisin Bran®, Mueslix® and Special K® cereals. She also likes to eat a quick Pop-Tarts® Brown Sugar Cinnamon toaster pastry as a warm breakfast or a snack in-between preliminaries and finals at meets.
Out of the Pool
- Soni participates in United Nations Foundation's Girl Up campaign in its "for Girls, by Girls" movement to improve the lives of the world's adolescent girls.
- She joins in various events within the organization, including local pep rallies, where she hopes to teach American girls about the programs that protect, educate and empower.
