About Juan
Agudelo was born in Manizales, Colombia and moved to the United States with his family at age 8. After the move, his impressive soccer career began to take shape. He has made 11 appearances with the U.S. National Team, and during the 2010 season, Agudelo made club history by becoming the first New York Red Bulls Academy player to feature for the first team.
Athletic Achievements
- Commissioner’s pick for the 2011 Major League Soccer (MLS) All-Star Game
- First MLS homegrown player, players identified and developed by the local teams – including MLS Academy programs, to be named to an MLS All-Star Team
- Forward for the Red Bulls where he has scored six goals in the 2011 season
- First product of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy to make an appearance for the U.S. Men’s National Team
- Youngest U.S. player to score in international competition in the modern era during 1-0 defeat of South Africa to win the 2010 Nelson Mandela Challenge in Cape Town, South Africa
- Tallied two goals in ten international appearances with the U.S. National Team
Agudelo's Approach to Nutrition
- Agudelo believes it is extremely important to eat healthy in order to perform his best every day on and off the field.
- He enjoys Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes® cereal and Kellogg’s® brand snack and meal bars, such as Nutri-Grain® bars, to fuel him through a long practice.
Off The Field
- In 2011, Agudelo traveled to Colombia with the New York Police Department to conduct a week of free soccer clinics and charity work.
